The Tavera is strictly a MUV and the body-on-frame layout hints at the age-old underpinnings that have been made use of. The suspension was specially optimized for India and does a great job of absorbing whatever is thrown at it. The ride, though not exactly cushy, is quite pliant. Handling is the weak area of the Tavera but then again, it is a car that will not be driven with your mad-hat on. For normal use, it is just fine and the body roll is well controlled. The high speed stability is also commendable. Brakes however are something that Chevrolet should look into as they feel soggy and you have to really press them hard to feel the discs working.

The interior is not really high-class but for the purpose that the Tavera sells, the interior is a job well done. It can stand the punishment of Indian conditions and will go on without rattling for as long as you want it to. The 2.5-litre direct injection diesel engine is an Isuzu unit and it is quite a workhorse! Peak power of 80bhp comes in at 3900 rpm while 186Nm of torque peaks at 1800 revs. But the way the engine pulls from low revs is astonishing and the torque curve is very linear.

This makes driving around town a breeze. General Motors India has launched a new variant of its MPV Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 BS IV MPV, which combines the handling and comfort of a passenger car with the performance and ruggedness of a MUV. "GM engineers carried out an extensive upgrade of the popular Tavera based on customer feedback,” said GM India President and Managing Director Lowell Paddock. “The result is a stylish yet durable vehicle that is perfectly suited for personal & business use.” The new Tavera is priced between Rs 7.51 lakh and Rs 10.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The top most variant of the Tavera features Chevrolet’s signature twin-port grille and a bigger Chevrolet bowtie in front and at the back. Larger shimmering crystal-effect clear lens headlamps with integrated indicator lamps enhance the bold and stylish front look while increasing visibility.

The newest member of the Tavera family is also distinguished by its dual-tone body color combination. Selected exterior color finishes are combined with contrasting gold bumpers and body side graphics. Chrome garnished front grille and fog lamp housings boost the model’s premium appeal. Chevrolet’s “advancing diamond” pattern on the side graphics seamlessly blends side surfaces with bumpers for a stunning visual appeal. Designers have also added a fresh new design for the wheel covers. The Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 interior has a premium look, with a beige and dark grey combination.

The “advancing diamond” motif continues inside on the soft-feel cashmere upholstery with specially designed inserts. Premium perforated leather upholstery is available as on the Captain Seat variants. Dark grey elements wrap around the occupants flowing from the top of the two-tone instrument panel to the top of the door trims, providing a perfect wrap-around effect. The smart instrument cluster has Ice Blue illumination. A dead pedal enhances driver comfort.
