Tata Motors launched a new top-end variant of the Indigo e-CS: VX/GVX.  The diesel top-end variant, VX is priced at Rs. 580,339 while the petrol top-end variant, GVX is priced at Rs. 497,727. The Indigo eCS petrol is powered by 1,193 cc, MPFi petrol engine that delivers 63 bhp (65 PS) of power and 100 Nm of torque. The Indigo e-CS diesel is powered by 1,396 cc, CR4, common rail diesel engine that puts out 68 bhp of power and 140 NM of torque. Both these engines are mated to 5-speed transmission and are compliant with BS IV emission norms. The USP of Indigo eCS is the mileage and the boot. Tata has achieved the high mileage (25 kmpl) in Indigo eCS by using technologies such as Smart EMS (Engine Management System) chip, maximum charge combustion, Drag reduction, Transaxle, Tyres with low resistance. The Indigo eCS measures less than 4 meters (3,988 mm in length) which helps it gain excise duty sops. However the shortened length does not translate into lack of boot space as one would assume, the eCS manages to provide a wholesome 380 litres boot space. The new top-end variant (VX/GVX) comes with height adjustable driver seat, rear seat centre armrest, ABS, keyless entry, and 14-inch, 8-spoke alloy wheels and rear demister. The cheapest sedan in the world gives the owner the satisfaction of owning a sedan but with all the benefits of being under the length and engine displacement limits stated by the government. The boot isn't much more useable than a hatchback thanks to the intruding suspension strut towers. Get this only if you really, really want a sedan.
