Fiat Grande Punto 2012 Active 1.2

The Fiat Grande Punto has three engine options to choose, The 1.2 litre petrol engine which produces 67 BHP of power at 6000 RPM and the 1.4 litre petrol engine which produces 89 BHP at 6000 RPM and finally the 1.3 multijet diesel engine which produces 75 BHP of power at 4500 RPM and 20.1 Kg-m of torque. The multi jet diesel engine is the same engine which is employed to power the Swift, Indica Vista, Dzire and a lot more. This is enough to prove the credibility of the engine , The Punto has a 5 speed gearbox and it is designed for fule efficiemcy rather than outright performance. The first gear is hort and the rest of the gears are widespread and relaxed which reduces the number of shifts within the city.

The engine is fruitful above 2000 RPM and is quick enough for a diesel hatch. The clutch gives you a solid feel but there quite a good amount of play before the clutch actually starts to work. The gear shift is a bit long but feels positive on the shifts. 7/10This premium luxury hatch from Fiat features an aggressive Italian modern design which is a step ahead of other cars in its segment. This car is not so quick in the dash to 100 kmph but feel very composed and precise at all speeds. The car does a 0 – 100kmph timing of around 15- 16 secs which is around 2 seconds slower than the fastest car in this segment the Swift. This has little effect on your mind tho ,The car handles beautifully with perfect feedback from the tires and steering .

The roll is minimal and well setup to ensure that is driving experience is not compromised . Forget about getting the car upto speed just make sure you find a place with twists and turns to enjoy the car’s handling at all speeds. The interiors are sporty and are of high quality, with sufficient space for both front and rear passengers. There are two petrol engines available and two diesel engines, all of which provide a comfortable and refined driving experience. The Punto is however priced on the higher side and the reliability of its parts are sometimes questionable, but overall the car performs well and serves its purpose as a good city mobility solution. It also has the advantage of having Tata Motors catering its customers for parts and servicing. The 1.2 Dynamic is powered by Fiat’s 1172-cc petrol engine that puts out 67 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 96 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The gearshift is slick and easy to use. The gearing is slightly on the taller side, which means that the car doesn’t pick up as quickly but can cruise effortlessly at higher speeds. In fact, pick up is quite linear in the Punto, and it goes about accelerating at a pretty sedate pace. So while that may not thrill enthusiasts, it provides for a more comfortable ride for passengers.
